What is it about LG CINEMA 3D Smart TVs that people love so much? The brilliant pictures and the top notch 3D quality? Or, the comfortable and affordable glasses? Maybe the really smart features?

Well, we can’t speak for every single customer, but we’re definitely glad to count PCWorld in our corner! PCWorld is easily one of the best known tech publications around, delivering highly regarded expert advice on the latest cutting-edge technology. It is available in 50+ countries. After choosing two LG CINEMA 3D Smart TV models at the top of its list of 5 favorite HDTVs for 3D viewing (#1 and #3), they also picked the LG Smart TV platform as their favorite in comparisons. Read more on PCWorld’s favorite 3D TVs here.

Most major TV makers offer Smart TV functions on top of TV products. But there’s a reason why the LG CINEMA 3D Smart TV platform performs so well in the tests and was chosen #1 by the tech gurus at PCWorld.

Put simply: the experience.

Here’s how PCWorld put it: “The LG Smart TV platform offers the best overall Internet experience.” We fully agree, and would add that the ease and comfort of the Magic Motion Remote Control makes it even better, especially with its simple point and click controls that make accessing Smart TV services on a LG CINEMA 3D Smart TV so much more pleasant.

See how smart LG CINEMA 3D Smart TVs can be

PCWorld also found typing easier on the Magic Motion Remote Control as compared to conventional TV remote controls. And for people who really want a keyboard, we made a free easy QWERTY keyboard application for your iOS and Android device, which also makes it great for surfing the web.

We’ll gladly take the compliments! So, if you’re in the market for a new TV, an LG CINEMA 3D Smart TV should be on top of your list to try out.

Also, don’t forget that LG also offers a set-top box called Smart TV Upgrader that also provides the full smart TV experience when connected to your existing TVs at home! Read the original PCWorld article here.

PCWorld is a tech publication that’s been dedicated to delivering its brand of high tech savvy to technology fans around the world for nearly 30 years in 50+ countries, offering trusted expert advice on advanced technology and consumer devices.

So we were pretty hyped up when we saw online, that PCWorld picked LG for 2 of the top 5 spots on a list of their favorite HDTVs for 3D viewing. In fact, ours came in #1 and #3.

Topping the list was a 47-inch CINEMA 3D Smart TV (47LW6500) recognized for its great image and outstanding audio quality at a very affordable price. According to PCWorld, it’s a “very good deal for a 47-inch 1080p set with state-of-the-art capabilities.” It received high marks for color reproduction, especially the skin tones. PCWorld also liked the detail and overall sharpness of the images.

The easy-to-use picture wizard, which lets users adjust the image quality (color, tint, sharpness, etc.), with a great collection of presets, also got a mention. Very much worthy of that famous Best Buy emblem!

The other TV to catch their eye was a 50-inch 1080p Plasma TV (50PZ950). PCWorld liked its beautiful picture quality, wide range of Internet options and excellent 3D quality. It also sports an exceptionally thin black bezel, giving it what we call a “bezel-less” look. As PCWorld points outs, when the TV is turned off, it looks like it has no bezel at all. That makes it remarkable in any living room. The magazine recommended it for people seeking a good-looking TV with smart capabilities.

What more explanation do you need?

There’s no doubt that LG offers a wide range of really great TVs for everyone. The picture quality is brilliant and 3D effects are excellent. And many of the latest LG models, including the two mentioned above, come standard with Smart TV features that you don’t want to miss out on.

In fact PCWorld also picked LG CINEMA 3D Smart TVs as their favorite Smart TV platform. You can read about it here, and the original PCWorld article here.

LG’s CINEMA 3D TV has been turning consumers’ heads all year and it recently caught the discerning eye of the editors at PC Magazine.

In early May, they gave the LG CINEMA 3D 47LW5600 exceptionally high marks in one of their reviews. And just a week later, one of the magazine’s highly regarded tech writers, Will Greenwald, talked about how the industry is finally getting turned on to what he calls ‘Passive 3D.’ What it all comes down to, according to PC Magazine, is that the technology LG is using is the way the industry should go, and the 47LW5600 delivers on the promise of high quality 3D TV affordably and in style.

You’re probably wondering what ‘Passive 3D’ is, right? In tech-speak, it’s known as Film-type Patterned Retarder, or FPR. In a nutshell, it’s the key difference between the two main types of 3D TVs on the market today. Conventional 3D TVs use something called Active Shutter Glasses, which are heavy and expensive. To watch conventional 3D TVs properly, you have to stay in the line of sight of the HDTV’s infrared emitter. Worse, the glasses are large and bulky, making them uncomfortable to wear, and the constant flickering can cause serious eye fatigue.

LG gets around those problems with FPR technology in its LG CINEMA 3D 47LW5600, which PC Magazine awarded a 4.5-star rating and named an Editors’ Choice. The magazine was definitely enthused about the much cheaper price of the LG CINEMA 3D TV. But that wasn’t the only reason for recommending it. It also praised the outstanding picture quality, in both 2D and 3D, while talking up the 47LW5600’s many great features.

So how about that 3D quality? To test it, the magazine compared watching the 3D movie Avatar on the 47LW5600 with a conventional 3D TV. As writer John R. Delaney puts it, “I was blown away by the panel’s depth and clarity. The entire picture was crisp and image detail was exquisite throughout. The picture remained bright and color quality was spot on.”

He also gave the 47LW5600 high marks for its design and functionality, pointing out the sleekness of the elegant black bezel, the easy side-accessibility to key ports (4HDMI, 2USB), and the unique Magic Motion remote, which operates almost like a mouse together with the 47LW5600’s incredibly intuitive UI. “I couldn’t put it down once I started using it and would love to see this technology make its way into all TV remotes.”

And don’t forget power consumption. The review referred to the 47LW5600 as a “power miser,” pointing out that the unit consumes just 95 watts on Cinema mode even with the power saving feature turned off. Delaney gave it his “GreenTech stamp of approval” for costing less than $2/month to operate.

At the end of the day, it all comes down to those 3D glasses. As PC Magazine points out, “passive is where it’s at.” Active Shutter types are big, inconvenient, and very expensive, Delany argues, with an average pair costing more than $100. LG ships 4 pairs for free with its CINEMA 3D 47LW5600, they’re comfortable, and you can view the TV from any angle in the room without any eye fatigue.

Here’s the final word from PC Magazine on why the LG CINEMA 3D 47LW5600 earns a 4.5-star rating and its coveted Editor’s Choice award:

…the LG 47LW5600 delivers excellent 2D and 3D picture quality, and unlike most 3D HDTVs it comes with the glasses to accommodate a family of four. You also get wired and wireless networking, a cool Magic Motion remote, a nice selection of Web apps, and energy-efficient LED backlighting. At just $1,700, this set is one of the best HDTV deals around, so it’s our Editors’ Choice for 3D sets.

Nobody likes to get hit over the head with an advertisement. When we advertise our CINEMA 3D TVs, we want people to enjoy the ads as much as they enjoy our TVs. Definitely easier said than done, because making great ads that really resonate with people is a complex, often hit-or-miss process.

And it’s worth pointing out that with so many new ads coming out each day across the digital frontier, it seems like it’s getting harder and harder to create truly memorable ones.

Recently a leading global research company by the name of Millward Brown picked our CINEMA 3D TV ads as the best-liked ad from July 2010 to June 2011 in South Africa. And we couldn’t have been happier.

The “LG 3D TV: More Fun” ad was developed as part of LG’s global ad campaign for our FPR-type CINMEA 3D TVs, delivering the message that LG CINEMA 3D TVs, using LG’s outstanding FPR technology, could make 3D TVs much more enjoyable.

The “More Fun” ad campaign is an ad based on a humorous lab test, showing the superior brightness of LG CINEMA 3D TVs compared to conventional 3D TVs.

As Millward Brown stated in their news release, LG “used a humorous creative strategy, which always works for consumers. And at a time when brands were cutting marketing budgets, the ad worked across markets worldwide.”

The choice shows that these ads stick to our goals of delivering what conventional 3D TVs simply can’t: a truly comfortable and enjoyable 3D experience.

According to Millward Brown, “a great advertisement grabs the consumer’s attention, stays true to the brand, affects the consumer’s brand experience, and engages and entertains, while sending a clear and simple message.”

We couldn’t agree more.

Take a look the ad below. It speaks for itself.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSgTyyq8-To&feature=youtu.be

“Everything you could want” – PC Magazine

Are you making a TV purchase and trying to figure out which 3D LED Smart TV is the right one for you and your family?

The market is packed with options, and virtually every model from most of the manufacturers forces you to make a choice between price and all the latest top-of-the-line features. But how can you know you’ve got the right combination? And why do you have to choose at all?

We admit, the last one was rhetorical, and it’s the basic point made by the experts at PC Magazine when they chose LG’s 47LW5600 as the Best HDTV of year 2011. Outstanding picture quality, affordable price tag, comfortable glasses, an abundance of features, and the list goes on.

PC Magazine knows their electronics goods. In fact, millions of readers rely on their expertise to make better purchase decisions every year. And the experts fell head over heels for the 47LW5600.

So what made these tech-savvy experts at PC Magazine choose the 47LW5600 over all the other LED HDTVs in the market? Take a look at the TV first.

The 47LW5600 is a beautifully designed 47-inch CINEMA 3D LED Smart TV, based by LG’s outstanding Film Patterned Retarder-type 3D technology. Packaged with 4 pairs of lightweight, comfortable, and battery-free glasses, the 47LW5600 delivers amazingly beautiful 2D and 3D quality, along with easy-to-use Smart TV functions as well.

Before PC Magazine picked this model for the Best of 2011, it was also the editor’s choice, recognized for delivering outstanding 3D with comfortable glasses as well. PC Magazine editors were also thoroughly impressed by the “inky blacks, excellent color quality, low power usage, and a robust feature set” of the 47LW5600.

And navigation is a breeze with LG’s Magic Remote. Users can switch channels, change setting, access Smart TV apps and more, all with a few clicks and waving of LG’s intuitive Magic Remote. You use it like a magic wand and it acts like an on-screen mouse.

PC Magazine also noted the thoughtfulness of how the peripheral ports are positioned, making it easy for users to access USB and HDMI ports, even when the unit is mounted on the wall.

The bottom line: the LG 47LW5600 CINEMA 3D LED Smart TV “brings together everything you could want in an LED HDTV.” Excellent pictures, tons of networked features, great remote controls, and affordable glasses. All that AND an affordable price. What more could you ask for?

Connectivity is the name of the game these days, and once you connect your Smart TV to the internet, you can surf the web, download applications, tweet… The list goes on.

But what about your own content? Sharing all the pictures and videos stored in your notebook on the big screen is not always so easy. All the cables for video and audio, switching inputs and outputs… it’s not exactly a walk in the park, and definitely not very “Smart.”

Well, that’s about to change.

The new line-up of LG CINEMA 3D Smart TVs that we recently unveiled at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) inLas Vegasfeatures something called Wireless Display technology from Intel. We call it WiDi for short. We worked closely with Intel to integrate WiDi into our LG CINEMA 3D Smart TVs, and we’re the first to do it.

It allows instant, high-definition viewing of content stored in notebooks and other mobile devices on large screen TVs, and even projectors and monitors.

Here’s how it works: First of all, throw away all your cables because you won’t need them. You won’t even need a wireless internet network in your house. Using your notebook’s Wi-Fi chip, the TV will automatically make a connection with the Wi-Fi chip embedded into the CINEMA 3D Smart TV and that’s it. You’re ready to stream all that great content.

And if you’re wondering whether you’ll also be able to connect to your regular WiFi while your notebook is talking to your TV, the answer is an emphatic yes! That means you can surf the web while watching videos stored in your notebook computer, right on your big screen TV, all in real-time.

Now that’s what we call smart. In fact, we’re pretty sure that our new lineup of CINEMA 3D Smart TVs is going to redefine the Smart TV as we know it. So make sure you get WiDi, and get ready for a smarter TV experience.

The 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is now officially a wrap.

The Vegas venue has been cleared out, and the manufacturers and reporters have all packed their bags and returned home. But the amazing products unveiled at the 2012 CES are still the talk of the industry.

Here’s a roundup of all the great responses we’ve had from the media about our Home Entertainment products at the 2012 CES.

LG 55-inch OLED TV

They just can’t get enough of it. In fact, if there was one single most talked about product at the show, it’s definitely LG’s 55-inch OLED TV. This stunningly beautiful unit stole the hearts of reporters and took the entire show by storm. Even before the CES kicked off, it was the center of media attention, and the response upon unveiling was that it was well worth the buzz. And before we forget, it is the world’s largest, the world’s slimmest (4mm), and world’s lightest (7.5kg) OLED TV.

Engadget, a well-known tech review site, called the incredible picture “razor sharp.” The Verge, another renowned tech review site, said the colors, contrast and viewing angles were “too awesome for us to count pixels.”

Business Review USA mentioned that, “The picture on the OLED TV is incredible.”

Now, we weren’t the only manufacturer to unveil a 55-inch OLED, but CNET agreed with us that ours is tops when it named LG’s 55-inch OLED TV as Best of Show in CES.

LG’s 55-inch OLED: Simply Stunning

Check out this graphic on our amazing OLED TV here.

The New CINEMA 3D Smart TVs with a Bezel up to 1mm Thin

The funny thing about the bezel on our New CINEMA 3D TVs is that it is barely noticeable. In fact if we didn’t say anything about it, you’d probably think the TVs didn’t have one. But if you must know, the thinnest of our new models measures just 1mm! Sitting comfy on your couch, that’s virtually invisible.

And the reporters were thoroughly impressed. Tech Radar called our 1mm bezels “outrageous.” CNET went as far as to say that it is “one of the most beautiful TVs the company has announced.”

LG Google TV

Several manufacturers introduced a new Google TV at 2012, and LG’s very own version, together with our amazing 3D technology, made quite a splash.

The LG Google TV comes with a specially designed Magic Remote with a Qwerty keyboard. And among other things, this remote is what the press fell in love with the most. Engadget commented that the “Magic Remote Qwerty is probably our favorite out of the three options presented at CES.”

The interface of LG’s Google TV also caught their eyes. T3, aUK based tech review site, said they “felt instantly comfortable with how the interface was laid out.

Based on the wildly popular Android OS, LG provided an interface with easy navigation and browsing experience. It also has convenient multi-tasking support, letting users simultaneously run searches and access social media features while watching their TV. The Magic Remote Qwerty makes the features so much more easier, and of course, you can enjoy the same amazing 3D and Smart TV experience on LG CINEMA 3D Smart TVs!

That’s All Folks!

Yes, the CES is over. Much as we want it to keep on going, all good things really do come to an end.

But actually, it’s only just begun. We have the whole year ahead of us, and you’ll be seeing many of the great products unveiled at the CES on the store shelves in no time. Soon enough, you’ll be able to get your hands on our great new lineup of TVs and witness for yourself why everyone was going crazy over our products. There’s so much more to come.

There are millions of companies in this world, starting from small boutiques all the way up to globe-spanning corporations like LG. And while some find a niche and succeed by staying there, others are out in front, leading the pack on the strength of their capacity for innovation.

When it comes to consumer technology, LG is always striving towards something new and better by introducing new products and services that aim to revolutionize the way we enjoy our consumer electronics and, in the end, how we live.

Thomson Reuters agrees. Recognizing our innovative achievements, Thomson Reuters, one of the world’s most trusted and respected information providers, put LG among the prestigious ranks of its 2011 Top 100 Global Innovators.

The Thomson Reuters Top Global Innovators program evaluates performance in 3 areas: companies that invent on a significant scale, work on developments that are acknowledged as innovative by others around the world, and whose inventions are globally protected due to their importance.

We’re proud of the standout innovations LG has introduced to the TV and home entertainment industry this year.

Earlier this year, LG changed the 3D TV landscape forever with its Film Patterned Retarder-type (FPR) 3D technology. It was an emphatic statement, that 3D TVs do not have to be expensive and that viewing can be comfortable. Previous active versions caused headaches and dizziness, and lacked adequate 3D content. With FPR technology, the glasses became light and affordable, and the flickering images were vanquished.

Thomson Reuters wasn’t the only outfit to take notice. Respected media like the tech blog Gizmodo and PC Magazine also reviewed our products, putting our 3D tech on the top of their lists.

FPR-type 3D technology also makes possible a full ecosystem of products that work together seamlessly to make 3D content creation accessible and enjoyable for the whole family. The ecosystem includes TVs, notebook computers, monitors, mobile devices (phones and tablets), and 3D projectors. Working in concert, these products let consumers create, share, and enjoy the same great 3D content on any 3D device with the same pair of glasses.

You could say that innovation is part of our DNA, and we wouldn’t disagree.
