The Magic Motion Remote Control is not your traditional TV remote control.

Stack it next to a remote with a million buttons and you’ll see what we mean. The reality is that less is more. In fact, with just 7 buttons, the Magic Motion Remote Control makes controlling your TV a breeze. No more squinting down to figure out which buttons to press. No more puzzling over functions. It’s so intuitive.

And the Magic Motion Remote Control has plenty of options, like being able to adjust the sensitivity and speed of the cursor, just like you would with your PC mouse.

The menus on your CINEMA 3D TV make your Magic Motion Remote Control even easier to use!

Follow the quick steps below and in just a few quick points and clicks you’ll be well on the way to enjoying a much better experience with your TV.

1. Locate the Enter/Home button on your Magic Motion Remote Control. It’s right in the center of the device, so you should have no trouble finding it. Press it once and the device should turn on and a pointer will show on your TV screen. (An indicator at the top of your remote will light up as shown in the image below.)

2. Press the Enter/Home button again and you will be taken to the Home menu screen, where you can access your TV settings and Smart TV functions. Then, move your pointer over to the quick menu icon as shown on the image (left) and hit Enter/Home again.

3. Here you will be given an on-screen button named POINTER. Just move your pointer over it and click enter again.

That’s it.

Now you can access all the different menus for changing your settings for the Magic Motion Remote Control.

Speed: Adjust the speed of your pointer, making it faster or slower.

Shape: If you don’t like the default shape, you can change it here.

Size: If you’re having trouble seeing the pointer, or if you think it’s too big, you can adjust it here.

Alignment: If this option is turned on, it will help you locate the pointer on your screen when you can find it. Simply shake your Magic Motion Remote Control left to right, and the pointer will automatically relocate itself to the center of the screen! Cool.

Depending on the CINEMA 3D Smart TV model that you have, the language and the process may be slightly different but all CINEMA 3D Smart TVs have the same basic options. It’s really very easy. Just hit the Enter/Home button on you remote and locate your settings. Everything else is straightforward!

People experiencing a home theater system in their living room for the first time often call it a moving experience. In fact, it can be quite eye-opening.

Nothing really prepares you for all those ambient sounds floating around behind you—the people talking in the coffee shop just off the screen to the right or the sound of a motorcycle zooming by you on the screen to the left. First-timers often catch themselves physically turning to see if it really did just drive by.

We’ve gotten so used to the unidirectional sound coming from our TV sets over the years that we just don’t know what to expect when we hear it for the first time. Even some of the newest TV models boasting great sound can’t compete with a 5-speaker home theater system. Many of them pump out some pretty big wattage. But the depth of sound on a home theater system is something else again. It expands the field of sound and immerses you into it, as opposed to having it come straight at you from the front.

For movie aficionados, there’s really no substitute if you want to recreate theater effects at home. And for sports fans, a home theater system really can put you at the center of the action. Imagine sitting in your living room watching a baseball game and, suddenly, a heckler yells something at the pitcher from directly behind you. After you realize that the guy is not in fact in your living room, you’ll catch your breath and marvel at how truly advanced sound has become. It’s amazing.

Well, LG just created something new to take your breath away: the LG CINEMA 3D SOUND Blu-ray™ Home Theater HX906TX.

The difference starts with the fact that it’s a 9.1 speaker system. On the tallboy speakers you see above, LG placed four upright 3D speakers which pump sound upward. By filling the sound field above the listeners’ heads, it’s like installing four height channel speakers, as they’re known to industry professionals, on the upper wall. This is possible because the 360° reflector inside the upright 3D speakers disseminates sound evenly to the entire room, letting the sound shower down on the listeners.

Now imagine the sound.

By creating a new dimension in sound coming from above, instead of just coming at you from your left, right, or behind, it truly envelops you as the sounds transport you to the scene.

On a standard home theater system, the sound of a helicopter might be recreated off to the side or with a back speaker. But with the new 3D sound, the sound actually rushes over your head as the helicopter does on the screen. You can be forgiven for ducking because it really is that dramatic. And as anyone who’s seen a 3D movie before knows, the ducking is half the fun!

All this is made possible by LG’s unique DSP technology, which includes Sound Field expansion and 3D Sound Analyzer. While Sound Field expansion allows listeners to enjoy high quality 360 degree sound no matter where they are in the room, the 3D Sound Analyzer analyzes the complex layers of sound to bring even the smallest details to life.

We tested it out recently in Moscow with some top sound journalists and they were blown away. Alexsey Korneev, editor for top AV magazine STUFF, writes, “Home Theater? No, this is more than just a device. LG created an entertainment-cultural complex with IMAX cinema, dance floor, computer club, and also exhibition of best designer solutions.”

The beautifully designed speakers are a perfect fit with any interior

On top of the sound, the new CINEMA 3D SOUND Blu-ray™ Home Theater looks great and acts even smarter. The design incorporates a premium cubic look with a metallic silver hairline.

It also works intelligently and conveniently to provide outstanding Smart TV functions, including a wide array of premium content and apps. If you have an iPod or iPhone, you can simply cradle it to enjoy your own playlists and you can even download an app that converts your smartphone into a remote for your Home Theater. It also supports a more convenient method of sharing of all your media, including movies, pictures and music, via DNLA and Wi-Fi Direct™.

Eye-popping, jaw-dropping sound, because 3D is more than just a visual thing and your ears want in on the action. But don’t just take our word for it. Why not head to the store and hear the difference yourself. We’re sure you’ll catch it in the first split-second.

Can you imagine watching Jaws in 3D without the music? (Remember this music?) I think we can all agree that it just wouldn’t be the same movie. The sounds go hand-in-hand with the sights and, especially with this kind of gripping 3D drama, the music is vital to getting the 3D effect just right.

And that’s exactly why companies like LG are working hard to develop 3D sound technology. You’ve heard about 3D images but not sure what 3D sound is, right? Keep reading to find out what 3D sound is all about and why it’s really turning heads.

Just for a second, think about why we have those great sound experiences when we’re at the movie theater. When you’re watching an action movie, for example, you can literally hear bullets whizzing past your ear, individual raindrops hitting the roof overhead, or even the faintest of whispers off to the side. The auditory effect in concert halls and opera houses can be even stronger. Why?

In fact, these spaces are specifically engineered to deliver the ultimate sound experiences to the audience, with carefully crafted acoustics prepared to bounce the sound in precisely the right directions to amplify and qualify it. These sounds travel across the entire hall, allowing the people to experience rich music coming from all different directions, whether at ear level, or from above their heads.

At home, it’s difficult for a TV to compete with the experience of a movie theater or live concert hall because if you’ve only got two speakers, all those individual sounds are mashed together and sent out in the same direction. You also don’t have the unique ambiance of the theater delivered by those wonderful acoustics.

In an opera house, if everything is quiet, you really can hear if a pin drops.

Home theater systems make a great start at recreating this experience at home, especially because they begin with multiple channels. Ten years ago, 2.1 channels were common, giving you two speakers and a sub-woofer for the extra bass. Now, 5.1 channel systems are becoming common, and even 7.1 channel systems are appearing. As sound recording technology improves, the ability to deliver true 3D sound to consumers at home is here.

Are you getting a better idea of what 3D sound is? Sound is already three dimensional and even people with 5.1 channel home theaters appreciate its great surround sound effect. But, as outstanding as they are, 5.1 channel systems can’t deliver sound coming from over the top and this is precisely why LG has developed the truly innovative 3D home theater system, to fill out those upper levels of sound.

LG Home theaters range from 2.1 to 5.1 channels, and all the way up to 9.1 speaker 3D SOUND systems

LG’s cutting edge CINEMA 3D SOUND Home Theater System takes the major advances of all-in-one multichannel systems and pushes them to a higher level, literally. Using truly innovative technologies such as LG’s Sound Field Expansion and 3D Sound Analyzer, the system takes the home out of the home theater, and take you directly to the middle of the scene. It works with a special 3D reflector in the four upright 3D speakers, much like the reflector system in opera houses and concert halls. This reflector bounces the sound upwards in multiple directions to create a dome of sound that fully envelopes you.

Now, instead of just hearing sound coming straight at you or even from behind as with conventional home theater systems, the CINEMA 3D SOUND Home Theater System also drives the sound from multiple angles overhead. It creates a new dimension of sound coming from above.

We’ll be covering more about LG’s CINEMA 3D SOUND Home Theater System in the next post, and you won’t be disappointed. You have to see…er… hear it to believe it.

2011 is half over but the fun is just starting for 3D TV fans. Here’s our take on the top-5 buzzwords for the past 6 months. Hope you enjoy and let us know your picks as well!

No. 1 FPR vs. Conventional 3D
Consumers really caught 3D fever this year and what really had people interested was all the new technology that makes high quality home 3D viewing comfortable and affordable. Much of the discussion had to do with the differences between LG CINEMA 3D TVs FPR technology and conventional 3D TV types. Some tech experts have called FPR “passive,” in contrast to conventional types of 3D TVs that need active-shutter glasses. Unlike active shutter-type glasses, FPR glasses do not have batteries or wires, and you can view the screen from a wide angle instead of having to sit up straight.

No. 2 3D Glasses
Now, the thing about 3D glasses is that they can either be really ugly, or kind of cool looking.

There are different types and, because people were checking out 3D TVs and learning about the different types this year, it’s no surprise they were also talking online about which ones were better looking and more comfortable. This is where LG was really able to stand out. Because of the FPR technology, LG’s glasses are light, cool looking, and affordable. On top of that, they are safe for your eyes, and we know this is important to families out there. Active-shutter glasses can cause some dizziness, especially after viewing for a long time. But as we’ve written elsewhere, FPR glasses are certified flicker-free and won’t hurt your eyes.

No. 3 Smart
In some markets, like LG’s home market of Korea, Smart would definitely be the top keyword. Smart devices are everywhere and everyone is talking about them. And now, TVs are hitting the market with Smart features, meaning that TV is no longer just something that you watch, it’s something you do ! Smart TVs give users quick and easy access to a new world of fun and internet connectivity without a computer. Smart also means being linked to a variety of high quality 3D videos on demand. It’s like having the best of all worlds in your TV.

No. 4 Intuitive Input Devices
TVs do a lot more than they used to. (see No. 3 above!) With all the new smart features, it’s not surprising that there are also new input devices. Some manufacturers provide QWERTY keyboard or Touch pad type remote controls while other stick with the traditional format with a bunch of keys. Then there is LG’s Magic Motion Remote Control, which many users have praised for being very intuitive. LG studied all the key functions that we use on a regular basis and boiled the remote down to just seven keys, making it very easy to use while sacrificing nothing in terms of features. And the best part is that all you have to do is point and click on the on-screen menus.

No. 5 3D Audio Effect
For a long time, Surround Sound set the standard for listening by widening the sound. But after home theater systems came out, and 3D TVs appeared on the scene, people began talking about the possibility of 3D sound, which delivers sounds outside the stereo basis. With a great set of 3D speakers, you don’t just hear bullets whizzing by you on the right or left, now you hear things above and below as well. Seeing it and hearing it in 3D can be a heart-stopping experience, letting you enjoy the true reality of the world in a glorious three dimensional environment right in your own living room.

Those are our top picks for the first half of 2011. It’s getting hard to imagine talking about TVs without Smart and 3D in the same sentence. Perhaps the only other word we could add to the list is “pure TV enjoyment”!
